SMP Aftercare
Scalp micropigmentation Aftercare
To ensure that you get the best possible outcome from your treatments, we advise that you follow these SMP aftercare recommendations.
As well as any individual advice that your practitioner will have given you, such as how frequently to cut your hair, there are a few pieces of advice you should follow immediately after your treatment.
You should avoid showering your head for the first 4 DAYS after your final treatment, and then have light warm (not hot) showers for another 4-5 days. After the first week you can start to shower normally using a light shampoo or one containing only natural ingredients. Please ensure that you moisturise daily after showering as your skin will be very dry.
Avoid swimming, saunas and stream rooms for one month after your final treatment as this can cause fading to your SMP.
Keep the treated area out of the sun for 30 days after your treatment. After that you should use a sun-blocking cream with a high SPF factor (30 to 50) at all times. If in bright sunlight we recommend re-applying sun factor every hour during the day and wearing a light hat or cap in-between to give your scalp a rest from the sun. If you need to return to the clinic for any future treatment we cannot treat any scalp with sun damage, so you will have to wait until your scalp heals.
In order to allow the SMP treatment to be successful you should avoid any heavy exercise for 14 DAYS after your final treatment. It is recommended that you slowly build up your exercise regime over the following month. This is to allow the SMP treatment to settle into your scalp and not be disturbed by excessive sweating. You should moisturise regularly after 4 DAYS post-final treatment using a Nivea after sun product or with an all-natural ingredient moisturiser.
Following these SMP aftercare tips will ensure you get the best results possible.
Anti Matte moisturising
Some clients suffer from an oily scalp, which can give a shiny appearance to their head. Practitioners at Natural Scalp recommend using anti matte moisturiser to reduce the effect of any ‘shine’. We can recommend specific products if required. Please note it is important to continue using regular moisturising cream before applying an anti-matte formula.
