Scalp Micropigmentation is a simple process to replicate hair follicles where hair once existed. This is done by depositing small dots of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin with a fine needle. When combined with thousands of other dots, an illusion of a full head of shaved hair is created.

Most people experience a mild amount of discomfort during treatment, but this tends to become more tolerable as the treament progresses. Some areas of the scalp are more sensitive especially around the sides of the head. With the pain threshold of a body tattoo being quite painful, a hair tattoo is more like an annoying pin prick, which is not even close to being as painful as a body tattoo.

SMP can last 4-7 years, depending on how you look after it. Exposure to the sun can help it fade over time. A one treatment top up is recommended after this period, at a cost of £200 – £400. This will enhance the colour again.
